Cult-favorite coming of age action-adventure game

Bully: Anniversary Edition is a special issue of the action game, Bully. The game was developed by Rockstar Games. As with most open-world games, you will see the game from a third-person perspective. Its single-player mode lets you control a rebellious high school student, James “Jimmy” Hopkins. Your job is to get Jimmy to rise through the ranks of cliques - the Bullies, Nerds, Preppies, Greasers, and Jokes. You must complete a linear set of missions to progress throughout the game. So, you must earn your right to freely roam around the game’s open world.

Sticking to what works

Bully became a cult favorite for its groundbreaking, original gameplay as well as their tongue-in-cheek approach to storytelling. The game follows a mischievous schoolboy named Jimmy Hopkins. He’s dropped off by his equally cheeky mother at a boarding school called Bullworth. As Jimmy, you must work your way up the social ladder. The school is packed with liars, cheats, and snobs. So, you have to use your experience to stand up for what you think is right. If you can survive this school year and outsmart your rivals, you’ll rule the whole school. The Anniversary Edition has everything that made the original release a cult hit. It also features additional classes, missions, and characters from Bully and even Bully: Scholarship Edition. Rockstar Games has even included a hefty set of enhancements that can only be found on the game’s mobile app. It’s fitted with high-resolution updates, smoother checkpoint systems, and 1080p support. The most notable addition is the multiplayer feature. Otherwise called Friend Challenges, these are mini-games that take place in the classroom. You must compete with other players in various tasks. These mini-games include frog dissection, word problems, and even assisting the campus’ woodland creatures.

Expanded for more devices

The overall goal of Jimmy is to rule the school. Much like other Rockstar Games, you can use melee attacks and weapons to fight your enemies. Your arsenal includes slingshots, marbles, stink bombs and spud cannons. It may not look like it too, but the pudgy Jimmy can jump, swim and ride vehicles to get what he wants. He can ride skateboards, scooters, bicycles, and go-carts. But as with most students, your most convenient piece of transportation will be the bus. The game has now expanded into a mobile game. The controls have been configured with touchscreen phones decently. You will see that the game is inherently flat. This will help you from looking up and down, as well as an auto-targeting system that keeps the fidgeting out of your way.

Better over time

Bully stands out for its premise, plot, and gameplay. Every area of this game shows off something unique. From the quick and sarcastic wit of your schoolmates to the mini-games that make up your schedule, this game is nothing short of entertaining. Fans will also be proud to see how much the game has progressed. It has not strayed far from its original release, but the addition of the multiplayer mode, improved graphics, and support for mobile devices has opened more fun possibilities for players.
